RCIC is for children (ages 8 through 17) who have not yet been baptized, or have been baptized in a non-trinitarian tradition and are seeking formal entry into the Catholic Church.
RCIC prepares children for the sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation. Since they are unbaptized but of the age of reason, the Catholic Church views them as having faculties to decide to join the Church, which is very similar to adults coming into the Church. Thus, in addition to receiving Baptism and First Communion, they will also receive Confirmation. Even though one in Baptism, the child's sins are completely forgiven, we also focus on the sacrament of Reconciliation because this will help them stay in a state of Grace.
Students will receive additional personalized teaching about the sacraments and will also attend regular PREP (Parish Religious Ed Program) appropriate to their age group.
