The ministry of Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC) is a sacred and humbling role. EMHCs assist the priest and deacon in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass, helping ensure that the Eucharist is shared reverently and efficiently with the faithful.
Who Can Serve as an EMHC?
This ministry is open to lay Catholics who are:
Properly formed and instructed in the faith
Able to receive Communion
Commissioned by the Diocese and have pastoral approval
Before serving, ministers must complete Diocesan training and receive permission from our pastor.

The Reader Ministry is for Catholics who are well-formed in their faith and have a reverence for the Word of God. Readers serve by proclaiming Scripture during Mass, helping to bring the living Word to our parish community.
Who Can Serve as a Reader?
This ministry is best suited for individuals who:
Are practicing Catholics rooted in their faith
Have a clear speaking voice and strong communication skills
Feel called to proclaim Scripture with meaning and reverence
Getting Started:
If you haven’t yet received Diocesan Reader Training, please schedule a meeting with Dr. John Villaveces to discuss next steps and ministry expectations.
Preparation is Key:
Readers are expected to review and practice their readings in advance. You are also encouraged to purchase a personal copy of a lector workbook or other preparation resources.
You can view the daily and Sunday readings at:
usccb.org/readings (scroll down to find today’s readings)
We are grateful for those who answer the call to proclaim God’s Word with clarity and devotion!
Getting Started:
A registration form is required to join the ministry.
Servers must also sign up through the Ministry Scheduler program (see link below).
Training is mandatory and provided by Deacon Richard or one of our trained lay leaders. Each new server will receive a training booklet—please review this carefully before your first Mass.
Serving at Mass:
Servers should arrive 15 minutes before Mass to:
Put on their vestments
Light the altar candles
Receive final instructions from the deacon or priest
After preparing, servers will gather at the baptismal font in the back of the church before the procession begins.
Our Saturday Sacristans play a vital role in preparing the church and Narthex for weekend Masses. This behind-the-scenes ministry helps create a clean, welcoming, and reverent space for all who come to worship.
Ministry Details:
Sacristans typically meet on Saturdays at 9:00 AM.
On the first Saturday of each month, the group meets on Friday at 4:00 PM instead.
Most tasks are completed well before 10:00 AM, making it a meaningful yet flexible way to serve.
If you’re ready to help care for our sacred spaces, we’d love to have you join!
How to Join: Please enroll online through Ministry Scheduler Pro and select Saturday Sacristan from the list. Once you register, we’ll reach out with more details.
Thank you for your dedication to this important ministry!
What Greeters Do:
Four greeters are scheduled for each weekend Mass.
Greeters arrive 15 minutes before Mass and welcome parishioners as they enter.
A few minutes before Mass begins, greeters take their seats in the pews.
This ministry is ideal for someone who is naturally friendly, enjoys meeting new people, and loves seeing both children and adults feel at home in our church community.
