Our SJL Cantor Ministry is a vital part of our liturgies. In the absence of a choir, the cantor and others singing with him/her lead the congregational singing of hymns, psalms, and Mass parts. If you have limited cantoring experience or haven't cantored recently, you could begin as a backup cantor, singing just the hymns, psalm refrain, and Mass parts. The lead cantor also leads the psalm, Alleluia, and reads parts of the cantor text during Mass. One could also consider joining the Adult Choir before diving into cantoring.
