412 – High School Youth Ministry
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” 1Timothy 4:12
Over 40 high school kids and core team members gathered at Mary’s House for the high school youth ministry kickoff on August 30. Massive quantities of food, a gaga pit, and the ever popular shaving cream whiffle ball were the highlights of the evening. Several lucky teens went home with restaurant gift cards and one lucky winner went home with a pair of Royals tickets! Our next meeting will be September 13 from 5:00-7:00 PM. It’s not too late to sign up.
NCYC – Your high schooler’s NCYC application and $150 deposit is due by September 14. The conference is November 19-21 in Indianapolis, where we will gather with 27,000 other Catholic teens to praise and worship God! Applications and information can be picked up outside the Youth Office, and more information can be found on their website: www.ncyc.info. All applications MUST be signed and notarized. A notary will be present after the noon Mass on September 13 to do this for you.
MIDDLE SCHOOL KICK-OFF
Eighteen youth in grades 6-8 attended our Middle School kickoff on August 30. We spent time eating, getting to know one another, playing on the field (with Mary Margaret, Fr. Fitz’s dog), and sharing ideas for future gatherings. Five lucky kids went home with a gift card to a local restaurant!
If your middle schooler came to the kickoff, please make sure you return the registration form to the youth office or the parish office as soon as possible. Our next service opportunity is September 11 from 5:30-7:30. We will be making cookies for Camp Carousel – a weekend camp for children who have lost loved ones.
Also, please mark your calendars for September 25 and plan to attend F7! Night at Mary’s House: Firepit Friday – a night of faith, fun, food, fellowship, and friends! We’ll roast marshmallows, make s’mores, sit around the fire, and have some fun! Bring a friend!
