Sacred music is composed specifically for liturgical use. The Music Ministries of St. John LaLande present sacred music with beauty, devotion, and piety, as a gift of their talents to enhance our worship
The Adult Choir rehearses weekly from September through the Easter season. Members sing every other weekend and for special feasts and liturgical celebrations. All voices are welcome to sing praise to the Lord.
Cantors lead our worship community in sung prayer at Mass. Cantors are responsible for greeting the assembly at Mass, and inviting the assembly into the great gift of song, thereby getting our faith into our blood, our bones, our hearts and our minds. Both high school and adult parishioners are encouraged to become cantors. Cantor rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 7:15 in the music room.
The Handbell Choir rehearses weekly, from September through Easter. This choir rings at weekend liturgies on a monthly basis, and for major feasts and celebrations. Both high school and adult parishioners are welcome to ring. As handbells are tuned percussion instruments, the ability to keep a basic beat is helpful. The ability to sight read music is not required.
Keyboard Accompanists lead our worship in sung prayer by playing the pipe organ, piano and/or digital keyboard. High school and adult accompanists are assigned on a rotating basis for weekend liturgies and special feasts.
Instrumentalists and Accompanists
Woodwind, percussion, brass, and string instrumentalists are encouraged to lend their talents to enhance our worship at weekend liturgies. Join and share your gift of music.
