Sixteen middle schoolers gathered on Friday evening to bake cookies, make cards and posters, and pray for the participants of Camp Carousel. Sponsored by Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, Camp Carousel is weekend camp offering support and healing for grieving children who have lost siblings, parents, or loved ones. Please keep them in your prayers as they gather this weekend. Thanks to the wonderful parents and grandparents who donated baking supplies to make this somewhat messy baking extravaganza a huge success!
Six middle school youth donated 21 hours last Saturday helping out the Blue Springs Historical Society at their first annual Taste of Blue Springs. Wiping tables and serving guests allowed the Historical Society members to mingle with guests and promote our beautiful city.
Middle Schoolers are invited to inaugurate our firepit on Friday, September 25 from 7:00-9:00. We will play games, roast marshmallows and make s’mores, and celebrate the season. Any s’more making donations (graham crackers, marshmallows, Hershey’s chocolate bars) are most welcome! Donations for any event can be left outside the Youth/Dcn Doug’s office.
After 35 years in the Parish Office, I am officially retiring! I have been semi-retired for many years, and am so thankful for the time I have spent working at St. John LaLande Parish.
I have always described my job as a Gift from God, and every single day truly was. I want to extend a special thanks to Fr. Ron, Deacon Doug, and all the Parish Staff for their love, support and fun in the office. I worked with men and women I treasure like family. Only by the Grace of God and their grace, has it been such an amazing experience for me.
Also, thank you St. John LaLande Parishioners. I cherish the memories and relationships I have made. I will continue to see you all at church! We have all heard the quote
“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
That was written for me, and my wonderful time here.
God Bless You, Jean Girardi

Come over to Mary’s House after Mass next weekend, August 15/16, for an open house and a brief informational meeting about the upcoming activities for our middle school and high school youth groups.
We’re eager to show you our meeting place and share all the great things we plan to do in the coming year!
At each of the Masses next weekend, students leaving for college and those returning to school will receive a blessing for the success of their upcoming school year. If you have a child who is leaving for college, please consider sharing their contact information with us. We would like to pray for them, by name, and send them little signs of our support throughout the semester.
For more information, please contact Sue Robb at email@example.com.
